Corolla gamopetalous, bell shaped or rotate, plaited. Limb with 5 distinct alternate band and pleats. Stamens 5, inserted in corolla tube opposite to sepals. Anthers oblong. Ovules with axile placentation. Cotyledons folded, emarginate, rarely bilobed. Fruit a loculicidal capsule
