BORAGINACEAE
The family can be recognized because of predominently herbaceous habit. Stems terete , scabrous, or hispid hairy, rarely glabrous. Leaves alternate, presence of cystoliths. Stipules absent., Inflorescence, usually scorpoid or helicoid cymes. Flowers regular, bisexual, in 2-3 chotomous , actinomorphic corollas, cymes; calyx short, persistent, 4-5 lobed; corolla 4-5 lobed, with scales and folds in the throat Stamens as many as the corolla lobes, inserted in the throat. Style terminal, stigma capitate.
