LEGUMINOSAE (PAPILIONACEAE)
Leaves alternate, pinnate. Flowers irregular, racemose. Calyx 5 lobed, 2 lipped. Corolla papilionaceous. Petals 5 dissimilar. Rear petal (standard) large, erect, orbicular, veined. Lateral 2 petals (wings) smaller, symmetrical, spreading, Lower 2 petals (Keel) adhering together, enveloping stamens and style. Stamens 10, style long, anthers and stigma exserted from the keel. Fruit a pod, 1 or many seeded.
